B. Specific requirements are those that apply to each object of zakat obligation:

1. The following are required for animals:

    Haul means one year of ownership (11 months complete).

    Saum means that the animal eats grass at no cost to the owner.

    Not used for work (making money).

    Up to the nishab, which is as follows:    

2. For gold and silver the following are required:

    Haul.

    In the form of money (according to Ahl al-Bayt), but according to others, it is not a requirement, so it is also obligatory to give it in the form of bullion.

    Nishab.      

 

3. The following rules apply to plants and fruits:

If it reaches 847,207 kg, then the obligation is one-tenth (1/10) if it is irrigated with rainwater, a river, or the like that does not cost money.

 But if it is irrigated with well water that is drawn with a bucket, machine, and the like, which costs money, then 1/20th of it must be spent.

 

4. Merchandise

There is a difference of opinion among the madhhab scholars regarding the obligation of zakat on merchandise on three views:

    Khums (20%) is obligatory for him.

    He is obliged to pay 2.5% zakat after reaching the nishab of 70 grams of gold (some say 85 grams).

    Zakat and khums are obligatory for him.

Special conditions, namely the requirements that apply to each obligatory zakat object.

I. For animals, the following conditions are required:

  • Haul, meaning being under his ownership for one year (perfect 11 months).

  • Saum, meaning that the livestock eat the grass without requiring the owner to pay a fee.

  • Not used for work (making money).

  • Until the nishab, which is as follows:

               

II. For gold and silver the following is required:

  • haul

  • The form of money (in the Ahlul Bait school) as for other than that is not a requirement, therefore in the form of bars it is also obligatory.

  • nishab,

               

III. For plants and fruits the following rules apply:

If it has reached  847.207 Kg , then the obligation to be issued is one-tenth (1/10)  if it is irrigated with rainwater, river or the like which does not require costs .

 

Meanwhile, if it is irrigated with well water that is taken with a bucket, machine, and the like that requires money, then 1/20 must be spent.

IV.  Merchandise

Indeed, there are different views among madzhab scholars regarding the obligation of trade zakat on three views:

  1. It is obligatory for him khums (20%)

  2. It is obligatory for him to pay zakat of 2.5% after reaching the nishab worth 70 grams of gold (some say 85 grams)

  3. zakat and khums are obligatory for him.
